The recognition, through which Dego becomes part of an elite group of prestigious musicians who have played a role in promoting the figure and music of Paganini, comes after a collaboration that began in 2019. It started with Dego’s participation in the closing concert of the Paganini Genova Festival at the Teatro Carlo Felice, featuring the Cannone violin. This was followed by the presentation of the CD recorded on the Cannone for Chandos Records in February 2021, a masterclass for young violinists in 2021, and a second masterclass on May 23rd and 24th of this year.
On the 22nd, Francesca will perform as part of the Gems a la Paganini series with a charity concert for street children. This concert is part of a project promoted by the Baccarelli Institute and sponsored by violin maker Luiz Amorim. The workshop “Amorim Fine Violins” in Cremona has created a copy of Paganini’s Guarneri del Gesù violin, housed in Palazzo Tursi, and has garnered the support of many international violinists who have signed the soundboard. The “Globe-Trotting Cannone,” as the copy of the Cannone violin has been named, is therefore an ambassador for a solidarity project dedicated to Brazilian children from the favelas, providing them with a professional-level music education. Francesca Dego was the first signatory of the violin and the patron of the initiative.
